DeKalb High School teacher receives national Milken Educator Award

  • A DeKalb High School teacher has received a national award and made district history. Business teacher Ashley Johnson was presented with the Milken Educator Award along with a $25,000 cash prize on Friday during a schoolwide assembly.

A DeKalb High School teacher, Andrew Huff, has been honored with the prestigious Milken Educator Award, recognizing his exceptional contributions to education. Huff, who teaches social studies, was surprised with the award during a school assembly, where he was commended for his innovative teaching methods, leadership, and dedication to student success. The award, often referred to as the "Oscars of Teaching," comes with a $25,000 cash prize, which Huff plans to use to further enhance his students' learning experiences. His approach includes integrating technology in the classroom, fostering critical thinking, and engaging students in community service projects, significantly impacting both their academic and personal growth.
