The Gatineau CSSS Foundation Chooses Extenway Bedside Terminals
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 26, 2012) - Extenway Solutions Inc. ("Extenway") (TSX VENTURE:EY) continues to expand on the Quebec market, with Gatineau's Centre de santé et de services sociaux (CSSS) Foundation choosing to equip 414 hospital beds in Gatineau and Hull with Extenway bedside terminals, following a call for tender. The terminals will replace the television sets currently in use.
Extenway's technology offers a complete range of services in a single device: digital television, Internet, movies on demand, radio, games, the possibility to call a nurse, access to the hospital's various documents and forms, bed management, access to medical files, video calls, and communication with the foundation and the hospital.
The Gatineau and Hull hospitals will be the company's first clients to benefit from a wireless Internet network, a technical innovation recently developed by Extenway. The terminals will run exclusively on this wireless network, which will be made available in the two establishments.
"We are delighted that Gatineau's CSSS Foundation has put its trust in us by choosing the Extenway solution. It shows that our terminals fit with new technological trends by combining digital entertainment and medical content in a single device, at the patient's bedside", said John McAllister, President and CEO of Extenway.
"Following a comprehensive selection process, we decided that the Extenway solution was the one best suited to our current needs, as well as our long term requirements, for our hospitals and, especially, for our patients. Among other things, the integration of wireless technology means we will be able to benefit from technological opportunities that have been unattainable until now. For us, it's a win-win-win solution", said Marc Villeneuve, executive director of Gatineau's CSSS Foundation.
Extenway and the Gatineau's CSSS Foundation will finalize a definitive contract in the next few weeks, during which time they will fix a schedule for implementing the solution. The agreement is conditional on the finalization of financing following an agreement with a financial institution and announced on March 22, 2010, which, subject to certain conditions, will provide Extenway with term loan facilities of up to 25 million dollars.
As previously reported, the Extenway terminals are already in service at the CSSS du Lac-des-Deux-Montagnes, the Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital of Laval, and the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of Brooklyn (New York).
