CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ Genzyme ], a Sanofi company (EURONEXT: SAN and NYSE: SNY), announced today that scientists have named the company one of the most highly regarded employers in the biopharmaceutical industry. In a survey commissioned by Science and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Genzyme ranked among 20 companies in the industry with the best reputations as employers. Genzyme was recognized in particular for valuing and respecting its scientists, for its social responsibility, and for doing important, quality research.

This is the 10th consecutive year that Genzyme has earned this distinction.

More than 4,000 Science readers globally participated in the survey. Fifty-six percent of respondents work in biotechnology and 35 percent for a pharmaceutical company. Twenty-three percent of respondents reported working in basic research, 30 percent in applied research, and 30 percent in development. Seventy-eight percent of respondents were based in North America, 14 percent in Europe, and 5 percent in the Asia/Pacific Rim.
