MF Global was one of the worldas leading brokers in markets for commodities and listed derivatives. On October 27, 2011 Moodyas Investors Service and Fitch Ratings downgraded MF Globalas credit rating to junk status. Then, on October 31, 2011 MF Global filed for Chapter 11 protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
