BENSALEM, Pa.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Law Offices of Howard G. Smith announces that all purchasers of the common stock of MF Global Holdings Ltd. (aMF Globala or the aCompanya) (OTC: MFGLQ) between May 19, 2011 and October 28, 2011, inclusive (the aClass Perioda), have until January 2, 2012 to move the Court to serve as Lead Plaintiff in the securities fraud class action lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
MF Global was one of the worldas leading brokers in markets for commodities and listed derivatives. The Complaint alleges that during the Class Period defendants misrepresented and/or failed to disclose material adverse facts concerning MF Globalas business, operations and financial prospects, including that: (i) the Company was suffering from serious liquidity pressures based on its exposure to the European debt crisis; (ii) the Companyas internal controls were highly deficient and were unable to clearly segregate clientsa funds; and (iii), the Companyas true risk profile would inevitably lead to a credit rating downgrade.
On October 27, 2011 Moodyas Investors Service and Fitch Ratings downgraded MF Globalas credit rating to junk status. Then, on October 31, 2011 MF Global filed for Chapter 11 protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
No class has yet been certified in the above action. Until a class is certified, you are not represented by counsel unless you retain one.
