PPG Appoints Kerr Vice President, Fiber Glass

PITTSBURGH--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) has announced that Thomas P. (Tom) Kerr has been appointed vice president, fiber glass, within the companya™s Glass segment, reporting to J. Rich Alexander, executive vice president, Performance Coatings, effective immediately. Most recently, Kerr was director, strategic operations, fiber glass.

Kerr joined PPG in 1978 at the companya™s former Crystal City, Mo., glass plant. In 1985, he joined the glass research-and-development function as a project leader focused on advanced insulating glass technology. Kerr joined PPGa™s former automotive glass business in 1991 as director of quality, and in 1993 became plant manager at the former Crestline, Ohio, automotive glass plant. Kerr transferred to Paris in 1996 to become director of production for automotive OEM glass in Europe. In March 1998, Kerr returned to the United States to become general manager, automotive OEM products, and in August 2002, director, production, flat glass. He was named director, strategic operations, fiber glass, in 2005.

Kerr earned a bachelora™s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas.
