MTP Ventures' CopSwap Infiltrates the Web With National Private Beta Launch
FORT WAYNE, IN--(Marketwire - June 8, 2010) - (
One of the major draws for CopSwap, according to MTP Ventures CEO Mark B. Newbauer, will be the website's auction feature. "CopSwap was originally conceived 'By Police Officers, For Police Officers' and, in its initial stages, served as a unique portal for police-officers-only auction and classified site, primarily as a means to buy and sell used police equipment (guns, weapons, ammunition, vests, etc.); some of which are prohibited for sale to civilians or via civilian portals such as eBay, craigslist or otherwise. On the other hand, there are plenty of firearms and ammunitions providers online, but none that service other necessities or amenities."
[ www.CopSwap.org ], under MTP ownership, is all-inclusive and has developed marketing initiatives targeting both civilians and officers, leaving the niche wide open to anyone needing anything, but filling a niche otherwise unmet. Safety and legal measures are kept in check in strategic partnerships with FFL (Federal Firearm Licensed) entities in regards to firearms.
The timing couldn't be better in terms of firearms and ammunition sales as the NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) reports 14,033,824 guns sold last year. That's over 10% increase from last year alone.
"Even a minute fraction of these sales captured by [ www.copswap.org ] puts us in a very good position. We saw a good opportunity with the site's concept as-is, but with plenty of opportunity for application expansion and to refine its overall function, usability and visual appeal," continues Newbauer.
"In its first year of a Beta-run under previous ownership, with no marketing in place, the site has attracted close to 1000 officers nationwide who were signed up as members and have actively used the original CopSwap at one time or another. Our plans for the site will separate it from any other of its kind for both police officers and civilians with nationwide crime tip reporting, mobile texting capabilities for departments, civilian-officer interaction portals, retirement planning tips and services, coupons for officers and, of course, the auction and classifieds portal which, in addition to ad revenue, will bring profitability and increased value to the site."
MTP Ventures expects that the exclusive features for [ www.CopSwap.org ] will have a unique market position outside of sites such as officer.com, as it services the entire population, yet focuses on a niche with over 1,000,000 and growing. MTP Ventures will be selecting an SVP for CopSwap over the next few weeks and will ideally fill the position with an active or retired officer with a mind for business and marketing. MTP will also release a breakdown of projections for CopSwap for 2010-2013 shortly thereafter.
