ISELIN, NJ--(Marketwire - June 2, 2010) - Middlesex Water Company (NASDAQ: [ MSEX ]) (the "Company") announced today that it intends to offer to the public 1,700,000 shares of common stock under its existing shelf registration statement. The underwriters have a 30-day option to purchase an additional 255,000 shares of common stock to cover over-allotments, if any. The Company intends to use the proceeds from this offering to reduce the balance of its short-term borrowings.

Janney Montgomery Scott LLC will serve as sole book-runner and lead manager for the offering, and Edward D. Jones & Co., L.P. will serve as co-manager.
