Beaufield Surveys for SEDEX in Labrador Trough, Stakes More Claims

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 24, 2009) - Beaufield Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:BFD) has recently completed a 960 line kilometre airborne survey of its Lab- Schefferville project located within the Labrador Trough approximately 40 kilometres northwest of Schefferville Quebec. The 100% owned property consists of 139 claims or approximately 6776 hectares. The survey was carried out using a high sensitivity magnetometer to map geology, structure and iron formations and using a spectrometer to map radioactive minerals. The equipment was flown in helicopter to get optimum ground clearance.

The objective of the survey was to assist in the exploration for sediment-hosted exhalative, lead-zinc deposits("SEDEX") and to map iron formations. The Labrador Trough is the host of world class iron deposits and potential host of rare earth and SEDEX deposits. A regional bottom lake sediments geochemical survey carried out by Quebec's Ministry of Natural Resources and Wildlife identified four very high zinc lake sediment values within the Beaufield claims. The anomalous results are found over 4 kilometres, the values were in the range of 5000 ppm where the regional background has a magnitude in the order of 200 ppm or 25 times background. The zinc is associated with other trace elements indicative of the potential for a SEDEX deposit.

SEDEX are the world's most important source for zinc and lead (Leach et al, 2005). Reserves and resources in individual deposits often exceed 10 M tonnes of combined Zn/Pb with a typical grade of 5-15% Zn and 2-5% Pb, and often have an extensive mine life. The Sullivan Zn-Pb-Ag deposit in British Columbia was mined continuously for over 105 years and produced 25 M tonnes of combined Zn/Pb/Ag from 162 M tonnes of ore containing 6.1% Pb; 5.9% Zn and 67 g/t Ag (Goodfellow and Lydon, 2007). The McArthur River (HYC) zinc-lead deposit, in Northern Australia, is one of the largest in the world with Current mineral resources of 157 Mt @ 11.3% Zn, 4.9% Pb and 49 g/t Ag (Xstrata Annual Report 2006). Currently, the world's largest Zn resource is the SEDEX Red Dog deposit in Alaska. Red Dog produces over 600,000 tonnes of Zn annually. The SEDEX ore-forming processes are also relevant in the Zambian and Katangan Copperbelt, where a combination of magnetic and radiometric surveys have been used to map the mineralized horizons. These were surveys contracted and supervised by Jens Hansen P. Eng.

In addition to zinc the claims also cover strong magnetic anomalies in an environment known for major iron deposits. The data will be interpreted and used in a follow-up program to explore for SEDEX lead-zinc, the summer of 2010. Beaufield has applied for additional claims by map staking.
