VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 29, 2009) - NaiKun Wind Energy Group Inc. (TSX VENTURE:NKW) ("NaiKun Wind") welcomes the provincial government's 'special direction' to the British Columbia Utilities Commission to end BC Hydro's reliance on the Burrard Thermal Generating Facility for energy needs, and to replace that supply with clean, renewal and cost-effective energy through BC Hydro's Clean Power Call and Bioenergy Call for Power.

"This direction from government is an important step in unleashing the benefits of a healthy green energy sector in the province," said Paul Taylor, NaiKun Wind's President and CEO. "We look forward to the awarding of energy purchase agreements by BC Hydro in the near future."

"Renewable power projects deliver significant benefits," said Taylor. "They will help the province reach its goal of electricity self-sufficiency, help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create jobs and economic diversification in areas hit hard by declines in other sectors. Many developments, such as NaiKun Wind's project, have partnered with First Nations to provide jobs and other benefits."

NaiKun Wind Energy Group Inc. ([ www.naikun.ca ]) is a British Columbia-based renewable energy company with offices in Vancouver, Masset and Skidegate. The 396 MW offshore wind energy project will generate enough energy to provide electricity to 130,000 B.C. homes. NaiKun Wind is in the final stages of obtaining environmental assessment certificates from the federal and provincial governments and from the Haida Nation.
