TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 29, 2009) - Delta Uranium Inc. (TSX:DUR) ("Delta" or the "Corporation") announces that it intends to commence up to 1,000 meters of diamond drilling on its Deer Lake uranium project in western Newfoundland. Drilling on the Incinerator Road zone is expected to start by November 1st, 2009.

Uranium mineralization at Incinerator Road is hosted in a series of carbonate rocks of Carboniferous age, just above the unconformity where they rest on top of older basement rocks. Airborne radiometric anomalies and surface showings of uranium are scattered along an 8 kilometre length of the unconformity. The best exposed area of mineralization is at the Dan Showing, where trenching during the summer of 2009 has exposed mineralization along a strike length of 700 metres. Assays of up to 0.13% U3O8 have been returned from grab samples taken from trenches.

Previous drilling by Spruce Ridge Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:SHL). In 2007 intersected uranium mineralization in six out of nine diamond drill holes. Intersections included averages of 175 ppm U3O8 over 3.30 metres and 99 ppm U3O8 over 7.94 metres, both holes being vertical.

Discrepancies between radiometric readings and chemical assays have suggested the possibility that some uranium may have been leached out of the rocks. The rocks are permeable and exposed high on a hillside, and may have been affected by leaching due to permeation by rainwater. The planned diamond drill holes are situated down dip, where it is expected that the rocks hosting mineralization will be unweathered and uneroded.

Wayne Isaacs, Chairman & CEO of Delta states that, "Although our priority remains our Wheeler River project in the Athabasca Basin, we believe that we have delineated what appears to be some very high value drill targets in this known area of uranium mineralization. We are well positioned in Deer Lake and we believe that the area will become an active area of uranium exploration in the near future, as we can see from more recent activity by such companies as Altius Minerals and JNR Resources."

Altius Minerals Corp. trades on the TSX under the ticker "ALS" and JNR Resources Inc. trades on the TSX Venture Exchange under the ticker "JNN".
