Community Bank of Nevada Announces Text Message Scam

LAS VEGAS--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Community Bank of Nevada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Community Bancorp (NASDAQ:CBON), announced the text message sent to customers and non-customers alike was a Text Phishing Scam.

A text message was sent on Friday, February 13, 2009 by an unidentifiable source, disguised as Community Bank of Nevada, in attempt to collect sensitive financial information. "We are aware that over the past few weeks several financial institutions and their customers have fallen victim to these types of text phishing scams. At Community Bank of Nevada we have put into place many safeguards to protect our customers' information. Despite all of our efforts we still see attempts of fraudulent acts that are absolutely out of our control. At this time we are investigating the issue and hope to have it resolved quickly, minimizing any potential damage that may impact our customers," said Edward Jamison, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer.

The text message told the recipients that their debit card has been suspended and to call either a 1-866 or 1-800 number immediately. Community Bank of Nevada asks that you do not call the numbers or give out any personal information.

Community Bank of Nevada is currently working with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to resolve this issue, if you received the text message please call the FTC at 1-877-382-4357 to file a report.
