President Donald Trump's trade war will wreak greater economic damage than previously expected, both in the United States and everywhere else, according to new forecasts by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has downgraded its global economic growth forecast for 2025, citing the impact of former President Donald Trump's proposed tariffs if he were to win the upcoming election. The OECD now predicts a global growth rate of 2.7%, down from its previous estimate of 3.1%, due to fears that Trump's tariff policies could lead to increased trade tensions and reduced international trade. The report highlights that the U.S. economy would face significant challenges, with potential retaliatory measures from other countries further complicating global economic recovery efforts. Additionally, the OECD warns that these tariffs could exacerbate inflation and disrupt supply chains, particularly affecting emerging markets and developing economies.
