Is Gen Z better off financially than a year ago? Are older Americans? A recent poll shows a gap in how they feel about their finances and how they view President Trump's inflation strategy.
A recent poll conducted by the Walton Family Foundation and Murmuration reveals a significant generational divide in the United States regarding perceptions of the American Dream and economic mobility. The survey, which included over 6,000 participants from Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Baby Boomers, found that while 57% of Baby Boomers believe the American Dream is still achievable, only 37% of Gen Z and Millennials share this belief. This divide is attributed to differing experiences with economic mobility; older generations feel they have achieved or are close to achieving the American Dream, whereas younger generations are more pessimistic, with many feeling that the current economic system is rigged against them. The poll also highlighted that 60% of Gen Z and Millennials believe the system favors the wealthy, compared to only 42% of Baby Boomers. These findings underscore a growing frustration among younger Americans about their economic prospects and the fairness of the economic system.
