Trevor Milton, founder and former CEO of electric truck maker Nikola, revealed that Trump had pardoned him for his criminal conviction for securities fraud.
Former President Donald Trump has issued pardons to three co-founders of the cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX and a former employee. The individuals pardoned are Arthur Hayes, Ben Delo, Samuel Reed, and Gregory Dwyer. They were indicted in 2020 for violating the Bank Secrecy Act by failing to implement an adequate anti-money laundering (AML) program at BitMEX. The charges included operating an unlicensed money transmitting business and conspiracy to violate the Bank Secrecy Act. Hayes and Delo pleaded guilty to one count each of violating the Bank Secrecy Act, while Reed and Dwyer were also facing related charges. The pardons come amidst ongoing discussions about the regulation of cryptocurrency exchanges and the enforcement of financial compliance laws.
