Time to take a closer look with the man who has kept a very close eye on the financials during this election season.
The latest campaign finance report shows that Republican U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde has outraised his Democratic opponent, incumbent Senator Tammy Baldwin, in the first quarter of 2025, with Hovde raising $3.2 million compared to Baldwin's $2.8 million. Hovde's campaign received significant contributions from major donors, including $1 million from Diane Hendricks, the billionaire co-founder of ABC Supply. Baldwin's campaign, on the other hand, relied more on smaller donations, with 90% of her contributions coming from individuals giving less than $200. The report also highlights the spending patterns of both campaigns, with Hovde spending $1.8 million, mostly on advertising and staff, while Baldwin spent $1.2 million, focusing on grassroots organizing and digital outreach. The race for the U.S. Senate seat in Wisconsin is expected to be one of the most competitive and expensive in the country, with both candidates gearing up for a fierce battle in the upcoming election.
