GREENVILLE, SC - February 19th, 2026 - A transformative project is poised to reshape a key area of Greenville, South Carolina, as RealtyLink moves forward with plans to redevelop the former Mountain View Church site adjacent to the popular Unity Park. The ambitious mixed-use development promises not only to add much-needed housing and commercial space but also to act as a crucial connective tissue, seamlessly integrating the park with the wider Greenville community.

Announced initially in 2024, the project gained final approvals from the Greenville Planning Commission late last year, paving the way for construction to begin in the spring of 2026. What was once a sprawling 12-acre church property, primarily utilized as a parking lot in recent years, will soon become a bustling hub of activity, offering a diverse range of amenities and living options.

The scale of the development is significant. RealtyLink envisions a vibrant neighborhood comprised of up to 330 modern apartment units, catering to Greenville's growing demand for urban living. Complementing the residential component will be 150,000 square feet of Class A office space, designed to attract a variety of businesses and professionals. Furthermore, 40,000 square feet has been allocated for retail space, with confirmed tenants including a full-service grocery store - a long-awaited amenity for residents in the immediate vicinity - and several restaurant concepts geared towards both casual dining and upscale experiences.

"This isn't simply about building apartments and offices," explained John Stevens, RealtyLink spokesperson. "We're striving to create a true neighborhood, a place where people can live, work, play, and connect. The proximity to Unity Park was a major factor in our design approach. We want to blur the lines between the park and the development, encouraging pedestrian traffic and fostering a sense of community."

One of the most applauded aspects of the project is RealtyLink's commitment to preserving elements of the original Mountain View Church. Rather than demolishing the entire structure, the developers are incorporating significant portions of the church building into the design of the new development. This thoughtful approach not only honors the historical significance of the site but also adds a unique architectural character to the neighborhood. Initial renderings suggest the repurposed church space will house community rooms, co-working areas, and potentially even a small performance venue.

Greenville Mayor Patt Morrison has been a vocal supporter of the project from the outset. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a vibrant, walkable neighborhood that enhances the quality of life for all Greenville residents," she stated in a recent press release. "It aligns perfectly with our vision for a thriving, sustainable city."

The redevelopment is expected to have a ripple effect on the surrounding area, boosting property values and attracting further investment. Local businesses are anticipating increased foot traffic and sales, while residents are eager to see the transformation unfold. However, the project hasn't been without its challenges. Concerns were initially raised regarding traffic congestion and parking availability, but RealtyLink has addressed these concerns by incorporating a multi-level parking garage into the design and prioritizing pedestrian and bicycle access.

Mary Beth Hill, a Greenville Planning Commissioner, noted, "The team at RealtyLink has been incredibly responsive to community feedback. They've demonstrated a genuine commitment to creating a development that benefits everyone."

Looking ahead, the project is slated for completion in 2028. The developers are currently finalizing lease agreements with key tenants and securing construction permits. The Mountain View redevelopment represents a significant investment in Greenville's future, and it's widely anticipated to become a landmark destination for residents and visitors alike. It's a clear demonstration of Greenville's commitment to smart growth, community engagement, and the enhancement of its already vibrant urban landscape. The city is also exploring other potential developments near Unity Park to capitalize on the park's increasing popularity and draw.
