Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that out of the 1,200 government schemes, 1,100 now directly transfer funds to beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, significantly reducing leakages and corruption. This initiative has saved the government approximately Rs 2.73 lakh crore by eliminating fake beneficiaries and streamlining the transfer process. Sitharaman highlighted these achievements during her address at the launch of the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra' in Rajasthan, emphasizing the government's commitment to efficient and transparent welfare distribution.
