Ford (F) reported a fourth quarter earnings and revenue beat, with full year profit coming in slightly higher than expected, however the company issued muted full-year guidance. The results come after rival GM (GM) reported strong results but declined to return more cash to shareholders.

Ford Motor Company reported better-than-expected results for the fourth quarter, with adjusted earnings per share of 29 cents, surpassing the consensus estimate of 14 cents. Despite this, Ford issued a cautious outlook for 2025, projecting adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) to be between $10 billion and $12 billion, which was below the $14.7 billion expected by analysts. The company's revenue for the quarter was $46 billion, exceeding the $42.1 billion forecast, driven by strong sales in its Ford Pro commercial vehicle unit and software services. However, Ford's electric vehicle (EV) division, Model e, reported a significant loss of $1.6 billion for the year, with expectations of further losses in 2024 before reaching profitability in 2026. Ford also announced plans to reduce costs by $2 billion by mid-2024, aiming to improve operational efficiency amidst a challenging economic environment and shifting consumer preferences towards electric vehicles.
