  • ESAF Small Finance Bank has reduced its microfinance exposure from 72% to 62% and plans to further decrease it to 40% by the financial year 2026.

ESAF Small Finance Bank is currently experiencing significant asset quality stress, particularly in the regions of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. According to a report by ICICI Securities, the bank's gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio has increased to 5.5 percent, with a notable concentration of these troubled assets in these two states. The stress is primarily due to the bank's exposure to the microfinance sector, which has been affected by various external factors including economic conditions and regional issues. Despite these challenges, ESAF Small Finance Bank is taking measures to manage and mitigate the risks associated with its asset quality.
