The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Delhi government in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, seeking the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the national capital. The PIL argues that despite the central government's efforts to provide healthcare benefits to the economically disadvantaged, the Delhi government has not yet implemented the scheme, thereby depriving many residents of essential healthcare services. The court has asked the Delhi government to respond to the allegations and explain the delay in implementing the scheme, which offers up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. The next hearing is scheduled for January 10, 2024.
