"Yellow" in Competition at 25th Tokyo International Film Festival
HOLLYWOOD, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 20, 2012) - Medient Studios (
"We are very grateful to the Tokyo International Film Festival for choosing "Yellow" as an official entrant in the Competition section," stated Manu Kumaran, Chief Executive Officer of Medient Studios. "We look forward to winning the hearts of the critics and audience in Tokyo with our film, as we did in Toronto."
"Yellow" premiered to rave reviews and audience acclaim at the recently concluded Toronto International Film Festival ("TIFF"). Described as "Officially the most refreshing breath of air at this year's TIFF'' by Indie Wire, Screen Daily declared 'Yellow' a film "destined for cult status." All three public screenings of 'Yellow' in Toronto were sold out.
Starring Heather Wahlquist, Sienna Miller, Melanie Griffith, Gena Rowlands, and Ray Liotta, "Yellow" is a searing take on modern society and the demands it makes on people. The film tells the story of a young substitute teacher who escapes the everyday drudgery of life by fantasizing bizarre parallel realities.
"Yellow" is written and directed by Nick Cassavetes, whose previous films include "The Notebook", "John Q", and "My Sister's Keeper".
International Creative Management ("ICM") is the U.S. sales agent for "Yellow", with Atlas Films acting as the international sales agent.
About the Tokyo International Film Festival
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Tokyo International Film Festival ("TIFF"). As the only Japanese film festival accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers' Associations (FIAPF), TIFF has played an integral role in Japan's film industry and cultural scene since its establishment in 1985. Over the nine days of the Festival, films will be shown under a variety of sections. The Competition section features carefully selected films from all over the world, with the winner receiving the "Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix" Award. The Special Screenings section features entertaining films that are being shown for the first time in Japan. Other sections include Winds of Asia-Middle East, Japanese Eyes, WORLD CINEMA, and natural TIFF. The festival will be held October 20-28, 2012 in Tokyo, Japan, and its affiliated content market, TIFFCOM 2012, will be held October 23-25, 2012 at the new venue in the Tokyo Bay area.
