SAN DIEGO--([ ])--Chapin Fitzgerald Sullivan & Bottini LLP announces that the firm has commenced a class action lawsuit in federal court in San Francisco against Old Republic Home Protection Company, Inc., its parent company Old Republic International Corporation (NYSE: ORI), and several subsidiaries. The lawsuit alleges that Old Republic and its subsidiaries violated federal law by paying illegal kickbacks to real estate agents and brokers in exchange for the referral of real estate settlement services such as title insurance policies, home warranty policies, and escrow services. The lawsuit also alleges that Old Republic Home Protection Company violated Californiaas unfair competition law by paying commissions to real estate agents and brokers to induce the real estate agents to cause their clients to buy home warranty policies from Old Republic, in violation of California Insurance Code 12760.
