New Jersey Board of Public Utilities Announces Public Hearings for PSE&G's North Central Reliability Project

[ ]

NEWARK, N.J., Aug. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Public Service Gas & Electric Company's (PSE&G) North Central Reliability Project (NCRP) will be the subject of three public hearings held by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU).  The hearings provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the project as part of the official record.

The hearings will be held from 7 p.m. -10 p.m. at the following locations:

  • September 7:  Mayfair Farms, 481 Eagle Rock Ave., West Orange
  • September 8:  Chatham High School, 255 Lafayette Avenue, Chatham Township
  • September 22:  Sheraton Hotel, 125 Raritan Center Parkway, Edison

The NCRP will upgrade transmission lines and substations from existing 138,000-volt (138kV) to 230,000-volt (230kV) power in the northern and central regions of the state.  The upgrade is required by PJM Interconnection, L.L.C., the federally approved independent regional planning organization.  The project will maintain reliability for New Jersey businesses and residents, provide better power quality, and reduce transmission system congestion in the region.

Overall the NCRP spans approximately 35 miles.  It will go through West Orange, Livingston, Roseland, Florham Park, Chatham Borough, Chatham Township, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, Watchung, Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Clark, Edison, Metuchen and Woodbridge along an existing PSE&G overhead right-of-way.

More information about the project can be found on the project Web site at ncreliabilityproject.pseg.com.
