FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company Names John Grabnar Director of Site Operations at Perry Nuclear Power Plant
AKRON, Ohio, Aug. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: [ FE ]), has named John Grabnar director of Site Operations at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Perry, Ohio. In this position, he is responsible for overall management of the Perry Plant's Operations, Chemistry, Radiation Protection, Work Management and Outage Management groups.

Grabnar's 27-year nuclear career began at the Perry Plant, where he worked in Engineering during construction. He served in several Engineering and supervisory positions and earned a Senior Reactor Operator license at the Perry Plant before moving to FENOC's Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station in Oak Harbor, Ohio, as Design Engineering manager. In that position, he was instrumental in the site's 2004 restart. Subsequently, Grabnar was named Davis-Besse's Site Engineering director. He returned to the Perry Plant in 2008 as the site's Engineering director.

Grabnar holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Akron and a master's degree in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with the State of Ohio.
