BlackRock Appoints Michael Fredericks to U.S. Retail Head of BlackRock Multi-Asset Client Solutions Group

NEW YORK--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE:BLK) today announced that Michael Fredericks has joined the Company in a newly created position as Managing Director and U.S. Retail Head of BlackRock Multi-Asset Client Solutions (BMACS). In this capacity, Mr. Fredericks will be responsible for building and leading a team focused on the development and management of customized multi-asset solutions for the firma™s U.S. retail client base. Based in New York City, Mr. Fredericks will report to Michael Huebsch, Managing Director and head of BMACS, a 140- person team which develops and manages investment solutions involving multiple strategies and asset classes. At December 31, 2010, BMACS managed over $90 billion in client assets. He will work in close collaboration with the firma™s U.S. retail distribution effort which is led by Frank Porcelli, Managing Director and Head of the firma™s U.S. Retail business.

Mr. Fredericks joins BlackRock from J.P. Morgan Asset Management where he served as a portfolio manager with the firma™s Global Multi-Asset Group (GMAG), where he was responsible for the groupa™s retail asset allocation solutions. In this role, he managed both tactical constrained and absolute return strategies and co-managed the JPMorgan Diversified Fund and the JPMorgan Income Builder Fund.

Prior to joining J.P. Morgan in 2006, Fredericks was an equity analyst with Nicholas Applegate Capital Management. He also was an Investment Manager Research Analyst at Callan Associates.
