Active Power OEM Channel Orders Triple

AUSTIN, Texas--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Active Power (NASDAQ: ACPW), manufacturer of critical backup power systems and continuous power solutions, announced today sales volume from its OEM partnership with Caterpillar, Inc. (NYSE: CAT) continues to increase. Caterpillar ordered 83 flywheels utilized within the companya™s high efficiency flywheel based UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems in the first half of 2010 compared to 28 flywheels ordered in the same period of 2009, a nearly 200 percent increase.

These 83 flywheels represent approximately 24 megawatts of critical backup power compared to the eight megawatts ordered in the first half of 2009, a 200 percent increase. In fact, Caterpillar has ordered more UPS systems in the first half of 2010 compared to all of 2009.
