SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA--(Marketwire - May 11, 2009) - Thomas Weisel Partners Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:TWPG), a global growth-focused investment bank, today announced that Terris Chorney and Simon Russell joined the firm as Managing Directors in Investment Banking. Mr. Chorney will focus on the Energy practice and will be based in the firm's Calgary office and Mr. Russell will focus on continuing to build the international Technology practice and will be based out of the firm's London office.

Mr. Chorney was most recently a Director at Blackmont Capital where he spent five years building their Energy franchise. Mr. Russell was most recently a Managing Director and Head of Technology and Services with Dresdner Kleinwort in London. Mr. Russell focused on the middle markets across advisory and financing products.
