When: Conestoga Valley school board meeting, May 19. Board member Philip Eby was absent.
The Conestoga Valley School Board is set to vote in June on a proposal to finance up to $21 million for the construction of a new elementary school, which is part of a larger $117 million project that also includes renovations at two other elementary schools. The financing plan involves issuing bonds, with the total cost expected to be between $19 million and $21 million, depending on interest rates. The new school, to be built on the Gerald G. Huesken Middle School campus, aims to address overcrowding and is expected to open in the 2025-26 school year. The project has been in planning since 2019, and the district has already secured $96 million through a bond issue in 2021, with the remaining funds to be raised through this new bond issuance.
