Starbucks plans to open 500 new stores in the Middle East and "many more thousands" in China, said Brian Niccol, the company's CEO.
Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan has announced plans for a significant expansion in the Middle East and China, aiming to capitalize on the growing demand for coffee in these regions. In the Middle East, Starbucks is partnering with Alshaya Group to open 400 new stores by 2028, focusing on countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Egypt. Meanwhile, in China, the company plans to increase its store count from 6,500 to 9,000 by 2025, despite facing challenges like economic slowdowns and competition. This expansion strategy includes not only increasing the number of outlets but also enhancing digital capabilities, introducing new store formats, and tailoring offerings to local tastes to drive growth.
