Italian police on Wednesday seized 46 million euros from the Italian unit of US transportation, e-commerce, and business service giant Fedex in a probe into alleged tax fraud involving so-called 'reservoirs pf workers' who were allegedly employed without benefits.

The U.S. Department of Labor has seized $46 million from FedEx as part of an investigation into the company's worker classification practices. The investigation, which began in 2020, focuses on whether FedEx misclassified its drivers as independent contractors rather than employees, potentially denying them benefits like overtime pay and health insurance. This seizure follows a previous settlement in 2016 where FedEx agreed to pay $228 million for similar misclassification issues. The current action underscores ongoing scrutiny of how gig economy companies classify their workers, with significant implications for labor rights and corporate accountability.
