The VITA Program began on February 7 and will continue every Friday until April 11. Appointments must be made to participate in the VITA Program as no walk-ins are accepted.
The Lariccia School of Accounting and Finance at Youngstown State University (YSU) has been designated as a site for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. This initiative, supported by the IRS, offers free tax help to individuals who generally make $60,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and those with limited English proficiency. Volunteers at YSU, who are students and faculty, will assist in preparing and e-filing federal and state tax returns. The program not only aids the community by providing essential tax services but also offers practical experience to students in accounting and finance, enhancing their educational and professional development. The VITA program at YSU will run from February 6 through April 15, 2023, and appointments can be scheduled online.
