  • The insurance brokerage has been part of GTCR's portfolio since 2011. The deal is Rolling Meadows-based Gallagher's largest-ever acquisition.

GTCR, a Chicago-based private equity firm, has sold its majority stake in AssuredPartners Inc., an insurance brokerage, to Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. for $1.345 billion. This transaction, announced on Monday, marks one of the largest deals in the insurance brokerage sector this year. AssuredPartners, which was formed through GTCR's acquisition and merger of several insurance agencies starting in 2011, has grown significantly under GTCR's ownership, becoming one of the largest independent brokers in the U.S. The sale to Gallagher, a global insurance brokerage, risk management, and consulting services firm, will allow AssuredPartners to expand its reach and capabilities, leveraging Gallagher's extensive network and resources. The deal reflects the ongoing consolidation trend in the insurance industry, where larger firms acquire smaller, specialized brokers to enhance their market presence and service offerings.
