  • Fort Bend County Judge KP George says a campaign loan shouldn't have gotten him in trouble, but campaign finance reports obtained by ABC13 say otherwise.

Judge K.P. Georges, who faces new felony charges for allegedly misusing campaign funds, did not report any loan repayments during the timeframe in question, according to his latest campaign finance report. The report, which covers the period from July 1 to December 31, 2022, shows no payments made towards the $100,000 loan Georges claimed to have taken out from his personal funds to finance his campaign. This omission raises further questions about the legitimacy of the loan and Georges' handling of campaign finances, as prosecutors have accused him of using the funds for personal expenses. The new felony charges add to the legal troubles Georges is facing, as he was already indicted on 28 counts of theft and tampering with government records in connection with his campaign spending.
