BEIJING, Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Huaneng Power International, Inc. ("HPI" or the "Company") (NYSE: [ HNP ]; HKEx: 902; SSE: 600011) today announced that Huaneng Suzhou Gas-fired Co-generation Project (which is wholly-owned by the Company) (the "Project") had recently received approval from the Development and Reform Commission of the Jiangsu Province.

The Project will build two sets of 200MW class (E-class) combined cycle gas turbine co-generation units with an estimated investment of RMB1.474 billion. Twenty percent of the investment will be project capital to be contributed by the Company, and the remaining investment will be funded by bank loans.
