- BMO employees will create a garden in which local residents can grow their own food throughout the summer months

- 6,500 BMO employees will take part in the bank's first North America-wide volunteer day

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - June 5, 2012) - On Thursday, June 7th, BMO employees in Winnipeg will be working with the Main Street Project to create a local garden for at-risk community members.

The Main Street Project has been in the city of Winnipeg since 1972, providing supportive services for vulnerable residents such as food and shelter provisions, substance detoxification and counselling.

The event will be part of the first North America-wide BMO Volunteer Day, with more than 6,500 employees across Canada and the U.S. rolling up their sleeves to give back.

"For 40 years, the Main Street Project has been a part of Winnipeg and a place for at-risk residents to find support," said Lynda Taylor, District Vice-President, Manitoba & Northwest Ontario, BMO Bank of Montreal.
