About the facility:
Spy Hill is an 86 MW gas-fired peaking facility located near Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. Owned and operated by Northland Power ("Northland") (TSX:NPI)(TSX:NPI.PR.A)(TSX:NPI.DB.A), the plant began commercial operations on October 19, 2011. The facility provides peaking power to the Saskatchewan power grid under its 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Saskatchewan Power Corporation ("SaskPower"). The PPA was awarded to Northland following a competitive bid process in 2009.
Spy Hill is one of two Northland Power projects in Saskatchewan. The North Battleford Energy Centre, a 260 MW baseload plant, is currently under construction.
