Citi names William Howle Head of Commercial Banking for the U.S.

NEW YORK--([ ])--Citi (NYSE: C) today named William Howle Head of Commercial Banking for the U.S. The appointment is part of an ongoing strategy to enhance retail and commercial banking operations throughout North America under the leadership of U.S. Consumer and Commercial Banking President Cece Stewart and Global Commercial Banking Head Sunil Garg. Howle will continue his role as Chief Operating Officer of U.S. Consumer and Commercial Banking.

As Head of Commercial Banking for the U.S., Howle will oversee a business unit comprised of roughly 1,000 employees. The group, which provides banking solutions to mid-sized companies, has increased its lending for six consecutive quarters. In all, Commercial Banking meets the needs of more than 100,000 mid-sized companies in 32 countries worldwide.

Howle has served as Chief Operating Officer of Citibankas U.S. Consumer and Commercial Banking operation since January 2011. He began his career at Bank of America, working in its Commercial Banking group before running its Wealth Management business in South Carolina and Georgia.Later, he joined Wachovia to start its private advisory group, and then served as Chief Operating Officer for Small Business and Retail Banking. At Morgan Stanley Private Bank, he led a National Sales Team that supported 18,000 Financial Advisors.
