AKRON, Ohio, Nov. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ohio Manufacturers' Association (OMA) selected FirstEnergy Solutions as the exclusive electric supplier to the OMA Electric Savings Pool, an electric procurement program to help OMA members obtain the best price on electric generation. This savings program is a statewide offering that will benefit members with a single facility as well as those that have facilities in multiple electric distribution utility territories, including Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company, Toledo Edison, AEP Ohio, Dayton Power& Light and Duke Energy Ohio.

Kevin Schmidt, Manager, OMA Energy Services, said, "We researched the suppliers of competitive electricity and selected FirstEnergy Solutions because of its significant generating assets. Making and selling electricity is what it does, and FirstEnergy Solutions offered attractive savings and terms for our members. Affordable, predictable power pricing is paramount to manufacturing competitiveness."

"Manufacturing matters, and the health of any economy is reflected by the manufacturing sector," said Julie Hextell, senior vice president of Retail Sales and Marketing for FirstEnergy Solutions. "FirstEnergy Solutions is delighted by the opportunity to work with OMA members to manage their electricity costs and ultimately, their profitability. A large portion of any manufacturer's operational budget is committed to energy costs, so controlling those costs with a favorable electric generation price is critical. FirstEnergy Solutions firmly believes that competitive electric prices are essential to spurring economic development in Ohio."

Small- and medium-sized commercial businesses – typically those whose electric bill is usually less than $5,000 per month – who are or become members of the OMA can sign up to receive an OMA-negotiated price. To enroll, members should go online to fes.com/oma and complete the enrollment form.

Large commercial OMA members should also go online to fes.com/oma to request a customized savings analysis and special program pricing.

The mission of The Ohio Manufacturers' Association is to protect and grow Ohio manufacturing. Through the OMA, manufacturers and manufacturing stakeholders work directly with the members of the Ohio General Assembly, state regulatory agencies, the judiciary community and statewide media with the sole focus of improving business conditions for manufacturers in Ohio.
