Entergy Crews Wrap Up Tropical Storm Lee Restoration Work

[ ]

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Entergy (NYSE: [ ETR ]) crews spent Tuesday wrapping up restoration work after a nearly four-day-long battle to repair damage done by Tropical Storm Lee, a storm that lingered over Louisiana and parts of Mississippi before finally moving out of the region late Monday.

As of Tuesday morning, Entergy crews had restored power to all of its customers whose homes and businesses can receive it.

The peak number of customers out at one time across Entergy's four-state service territory was approximately 38,000, which occurred around 10 a.m. Saturday.

"Tropical Storm Lee wasn't as strong as some storms we have seen in recent years," said Greg Grillo, Entergy's storm incident commander, "but the continued severe work conditions created by strong winds and driving rain presented their own challenges. I am extremely proud of the safe work done by Entergy crews and contractors to restore power to our customers."

Entergy Corporation is an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations. Entergy owns and operates power plants with approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity, and it is the second-largest nuclear generator in the United States. Entergy delivers electricity to 2.7 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Entergy has annual revenues of more than $11 billion and more than 15,000 employees.
