MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 24, 2009) - MAYA GOLD & SILVER (TSX VENTURE:MYA) is pleased to announce the Company's first drilling results on its Amizmiz gold and silver project in Morocco.

The hole SCTR1 intersected the TRNA zone at a depth of 25 metres and cut a section of 1.5 metres grading 25.16 g/t Au. The highlights of the assays weighted averages from hole SCTR1 are shown in the table below:

As previously announced, the channel samples collected from the zone TRNA returned values of 26.16 g/t Au over an average width of 0.98 metre and a stripped length of 34 metres.

The second hole, SCAZ1 was aimed at testing the AZ-10 where recent channel sampling returned an average grade of 8.2 g/t Au and 153 g/t Ag over a width of 0.76m and a length of 46.7m metres (16 samples). While preparing the drilling pad to test the AZ-10 zone, the excavator uncovered a new zone similar to AZ-10 but much larger. A 3.9 metre channel sample of the new zone returned an average grade of 3.72 g/t Au in sheared altered limestone.

This hole intersected the new zone and returned an oxide section of 1.3 metre grading 8.7 g/t Au between 10.7 m and 12 m. The AZ-10 was intersected at 230 metres along the hole. It appears as a 6-metre mineralized zone composed of mixed sheared silicified limestone with 2 to 5 % arsenopyrite and pyrite-rich felsic intrusive. Assays are pending.

''These first drill results on the Amizmiz project are way above our expectations since they were not priority targets according to the intensity of the geophysical anomalies'', reported Mr Guy Goulet, president of Maya. ''The drilling program is now well engaged and many other rich gold and silver showings associated to strong IP anomalies are to be tested. The current drilling campaign will continue until spring 2010 with two drill rigs'', he added.

Samples were prepared and assayed at Laboratoire Reminex (ISO 9000) at Guemassa, Morocco. All analysis reported above were obtained by standard fire assaying-AA and gravimetric finish. Systematic assaying of standards and blanks was performed for precision and accuracy.

Mr. Luc Lamarche, P. Geo, is the Company's Qualified Person for the Amizmiz project and has reviewed the content of this release.
