  • NFL club owners will consider expanding video replay and making last season's kickoff format change permanent at the annual league meeting that starts Sunday in Palm Beach, Florida. The NFL debuted a new "dynamic" kickoff format last season to improve player safety and try to restore excitement to kickoffs.

The NFL is considering a permanent change to its kickoff rules, aiming to enhance player safety and game excitement. This potential rule change, which has been tested in the preseason, involves moving the touchback spot to the 25-yard line to encourage more returns and reduce high-speed collisions. These discussions are part of ongoing efforts to refine the game's rules, with final decisions expected at the NFL's annual meeting in March.
