Tidewater Utilities, Inc. Selects YWCA Delaware as 2013 Charity Tournament Beneficiary

DOVER, DE--(Marketwire - Feb 20, 2013) - Tidewater Utilities, Inc. is pleased to announce the selection of YWCA Delaware as the beneficiary to receive proceeds from Tidewater's Sixth Annual Charity Golf Tournament to be held August 12, 2013. YWCA Delaware was selected from scores of applications primarily because of its positive impact in the Sussex County community and its many programs which provide women with the support and inspiration to reach their potential. Proceeds from this year's outing will help support YWCA Girl, a program that improves the lives of low-income, at-risk girls by helping them graduate from high school, and offering guidance to help them on a path to achieve their higher education and career goals.

YWCA Delaware was founded in 1895, and is a statewide organization dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Annually, nearly 6,000 to 7,000 people participate in their comprehensive programs. YWCA Delaware is a leading advocate for women by providing housing, violence prevention, economic empowerment, racial justice and youth programming. YWCA empowers women politically, financially and socially, while fostering the confidence and can-do attitude needed to eliminate barriers and overcome life's obstacles. YWCA Delaware serves women, men and children of all ages, races, religions, and socio-economic backgrounds. To learn more about the YWCA, call 302-655-0039.

"We are excited to partner with Tidewater Utilities this year, and appreciate that they share our commitment to advancing educational, economic and social opportunities for at-risk girls in Sussex County," said YWCA CEO Genevieve B. Marino. "We applaud their charitable efforts, and that they are using their corporate visibility to shed light on girls' needs and the work we do to meet those needs."

Tidewater created the annual charity tournament to help the company give back to the communities it serves while working in partnership with local non-profit organizations. Over the last 5 years, Tidewater has donated over $54,000 to six different non-profit organizations in Delaware. To learn more about this year's outing, please call Joe Cuccinello at 302-747-1307.
