Residents can save up to 26 percent without any change to existing electric service

AKRON, Ohio, March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Residential electric customers of ComEd can now sign up with FirstEnergy Solutions to receive the lowest price on electric generation for a 24-month term currently available. By enrolling now, residents can lock in a fixed price of 5.65 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) on electric generation through March 2014. This is a 26 percent savings over ComEd's current average residential rate of 7.73 cents per kWh.

"Shopping for an electric generation supplier is one of the easiest ways to save money," said Dave Hennekes, vice president of Retail Marketing for FirstEnergy Solutions. "Through this program, the average residential customer can expect to save around $390 over the enrollment period, based on today's rates. And because there is no cancellation fee, there is no risk."

Residents who choose FirstEnergy Solutions as their electric generation supplier will continue to receive one bill and the same level of service from ComEd, and the utility will continue to deliver the electricity, maintain the poles and wires, and respond to power outages. More information is available at [ www.pluginillinois.org ] and [ www.power2switch.com ].

Residents interested in signing up for this offer can go online to [ www.fes.com/comed-online ].  Other price and term lengths are also available online and by calling 888-682-2256.
