NEW YORK--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--At its regularly scheduled meeting, the Board of Directors of Transatlantic Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: TRH) elected Michael C. Sapnar, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of TRH, to the Board to fill the vacancy created by Thomas R. Tizzioa™s retirement, which was previously announced on May 19, 2011.

In addition, at its regularly scheduled meeting, the Board of Directors of Transatlantic Reinsurance Company, a subsidiary of TRH, elected the following officers:
