VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 18, 2009) - New Guinea Gold Corporation (TSX VENTURE:NGG)(FRANKFURT:NG8) -

Results from a further six diamond core holes at the Weioko Project (Sehulea Property - 100% owned by New Guinea Gold Corporation) (NGG), all show significant gold with wide intervals above 1g/t gold such as:

PWED42 - 48m at 1.95g/t gold and 6.12g/t silver
PWED43 - 42.3m at 1.74g/t gold and 7.76g/t silver
PWED47 - 64.6m at 2.24g/t gold and 8.88g/t silver

Mineralisation commences at or near surface and includes some high grade intervals such as 1.8m at 51.50g/t gold and 140g/t silver in hole PWED47 from 3.1m depth.

Bob McNeil, CEO and Chairman commented: "these results and the recently released results for the 60% owned Mt Penck property illustrate the significant value and potential of exploration / development projects within the NGG portfolio, in addition to the present and future gold production from the Company's Sinivit Mine.

NGG is not simply a one mine company, but has a large exploration development portfolio. Over 90,000m of drilling has now been completed on these projects and all projects have defined gold and / or gold/ copper / molybdenum mineralisation. We expect to be able to release resource estimates for the Weioko and Mt Penck projects by year end".

The Weioko Gold Project is a key NGG gold project, has been partly explored to date, but the drilled mineralisation represents less than 5% of the known gold in soil anomalous area (see Press Release dated March 30, 2009).

NGG has now completed a modest 15 diamond core drill program. The results of these holes, when included with results from 20 RC holes and 23 diamond core holes already completed, should be sufficient to allow a resource estimation to be completed in accordance with the guidelines of NI 43-101. The results of all previous holes, using a 0.2g/t gold cut off are shown in Table 1 of the Press Release dated March 30, 2009.

Previous surveys have included soil geochemistry, rock chip, side looking radar and Induced Polarisation (IP) geophysical surveys. Geochemical soil anomalism covers an area of 6 kms by 2 kms. Only a very small part of this anomalous area has been tested by either drilling or trenching.
